Scullen Law, PLLC was established by Michael T. Scullen in 2005. Sean Scullen (Mike's son) joined the practice in 2022 and is licensed to practice in both Michigan and Florida.
With offices in Troy, Scullen Law concentrates its practice in estate planning, estate administration and probate, trust administration, business planning and transactions, taxation, and real estate.
Scullen Law represents a wide variety of individuals and businesses throughout Michigan (primarily in Oakland, Macomb and Wayne Counties) and Florida, because of Sean's admission to the Florida bar.
Scullen Law has also developed a cross-border practice which has resulted in the firm's representation of clients throughout Ontario, Canada. The cross-border aspect of the firm's practice grew out of the reputation Mike earned in the Windsor, Canada legal and accounting communities as an expert in cross-border estate and tax planning. This has resulted in speaking engagements for groups such as the Windsor Estate Planning Council and an interview on Canadian public radio.
Scullen Law's objective is to provide its clients with practical and cost-effective advice and solutions for their legal and tax concerns while providing a level of personal service that is virtually unheard of in the legal profession – such as meeting with clients wherever/whenever is most convenient for them. Mike and Sean meet this objective through their experience, legal skills, and knowledge, along with extensive use of technology and dedication to quality client communication.
By maintaining low overhead costs, Scullen Law is able to offer high level legal services at extremely competitive rates in comparison with other area firms. Scullen Law does not charge for initial consultations with prospective clients.
For estate planning work, Scullen Law normally charges a fixed or maximum fee which is determined after the initial consultation with the client. The amount of such fee depends on the complexity of the documents to be prepared. For all other work, Scullen Law normally charges on an hourly basis with invoices sent out at the end of each month.
